A precise new KLOE measurement of Fπ2|F_\pi|^2 with ISR events and determination of ππ\pi\pi contribution to aμa_\mu for 0.592<Mππ<0.9750.592 < M_{\pi\pi} < 0.975 GeV

The KLOE experiment at the DAΦ\PhiNE ϕ\phi-factory has performed a new precise measurement of the pion form factor using Initial State Radiation events, with photons emitted at small polar angle. Results based on an integrated luminosity of 240 pb1^{-1} and extraction of the ππ\pi\pi contribution to aμa_\mu in the mass range 0.35<Mππ2<0.950.35< M^2_{\pi\pi}<0.95 GeV2^2 are presented. The new value of aμππa^{\pi\pi}_\mu has smaller (30%) statistical and systematic error and is consistent with the KLOE published value (confirming the current disagreement between the standard model prediction for aμa_\mu and the measured value).Comment: 5 pages, proceedings for the CIPANP 2009 conferenc

Precision Measurement of KS Meson Lifetime with the KLOE detector

    Get PDF
Using a large sample of pure, slow, short lived K0 mesons collected with KLOE detector at DaFne, we have measured the KS lifetime. From a fit to the proper time distribution we find tau = (89.562 +- 0.029_stat +- 0.043_syst) ps. This is the most precise measurement today in good agreement with the world average derived from previous measurements. We observe no dependence of the lifetime on the direction of the Ks.Comment: 5 pages, 7 figure

Form factor in K+ --> pi+ pi0 gamma: interference versus direct emission

    Get PDF
We analyze the effect of a form factor in the magnetic contribution to K+ --> pi+ pi0 gamma. We emphasize how this can show up experimentally: in particular we try to explore the difference between a possible interference contribution and a form factor in the magnetic part. The form factor used for K+ --> pi+ pi0 gamma is analogous to the one for KL --> pi+ pi- gamma, experimentally well established.Comment: 9 pages revtex, 10 eps figures; improved presentation of theoretical and experimental status; refs. adde

Study of pesudoscalar transition form factors within light front quark model

We study the transition form factors of the pesudoscalar mesons (π,η\pi,\eta and η\eta^{\prime}) as functions of the momentum transfer Q2Q^2 within the light-front quark model. We compare our results with the recent experimental data by CELLO, CLEO, BaBar and Belle. By considering the possible uncertainties from the quark masses, we illustrate that our predicted form factors can fit with all the data, including those at the large Q2Q^2 regions.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures, accepted for publication in Phys. Revisiting Charmless Hadronic B_{u,d} Decays in QCD Factorization

Within the framework of QCD factorization (QCDF), we consider two different types of power correction effects in order to resolve the CP puzzles and rate deficit problems with penguin-dominated two-body decays of B mesons and color-suppressed tree-dominated π0π0\pi^0\pi^0 and ρ0π0\rho^0\pi^0 modes: penguin annihilation and soft corrections to the color-suppressed tree amplitude. We emphasize that the electroweak penguin solution to the BKπB\to K\pi CP puzzle via New Physics is irrelevant for solving the CP and rate puzzles related to tree-dominated decays. While some channels e.g. Kπ+,Kρ0,π+π,ρ±πK^-\pi^+,K^-\rho^0,\pi^+\pi^-,\rho^\pm\pi^\mp need penguin annihilation to induce the correct magnitudes and signs for their CP violation, some other decays such as BKπ0,πη,KηB^-\to K^-\pi^0,\pi^-\eta, K^-\eta and Bˉ0Kˉ0η,π0π0\bar B^0\to \bar K^{*0}\eta,\pi^0\pi^0 require the presence of both power corrections to account for the measured CP asymmetries. In general, QCDF predictions for the branching fractions and direct CP asymmetries of BˉPP,VP,VV\bar B\to PP,VP,VV decays are in good agreement with experiment. The predictions of pQCD and soft-collinear effective theory are included for comparison.Comment: 51 pages, 1 figur

CPT and Lorentz violation as signatures for Planck-scale physics

In recent years, the breakdown of spacetime symmetries has been identified as a promising research field in the context of Planck-scale phenomenology. For example, various theoretical approaches to the quantum-gravity problem are known to accommodate minute violations of CPT invariance. This talk covers various topics within this research area. In particular, some mechanisms for spacetime-symmetry breaking as well as the Standard-Model Extension (SME) test framework will be reviewed; the connection between CPT and Lorentz invariance in quantum field theory will be exposed; and various experimental CPT tests with emphasis on matter--antimatter comparisons will be discussed.Comment: 6 page

Study of isospin violating ϕ\phi excitation in e+eωπ0e^+e^- \to \omega\pi^0

We study the reaction e+eωπ0e^+ e^-\to \omega\pi^0 in the vicinity of ϕ\phi mass region. The isospin-violating ϕ\phi excitation is accounted for by two major mechanisms. One is electromagnetic (EM) transition and the other is strong isospin violations. For the latter, we consider contributions from the intermediate hadronic meson loops and ϕ\phi-ρ0\rho^0 mixing as the major mechanisms via the tt and s-channel transitions, respectively. By fitting the recent KLOE data, we succeed in constraining the model parameters and extracting the ϕωπ0\phi\to\omega\pi^0 branching ratio. It shows that the branching ratio is sensitive to the ϕ\phi excitation line shape and background contributions. Some crucial insights into the correlation between isospin violation and Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka (OZI) rule evading transitions are also learned.Comment: Revised version to appear in J. Phys.

Constraining Scalar Leptoquarks from the K and B Sectors

Upper bounds at the weak scale are obtained for all λijλim\lambda_{ij}\lambda_{im} type product couplings of the scalar leptoquark model which may affect K-K(bar), B_d-B_d(bar), and B_s-B_s(bar)$ mixing, as well as leptonic and semileptonic K and B decays. Constraints are obtained for both real and imaginary parts of the couplings. We also discuss the role of leptoquarks in explaining the anomalously large CP-violating phase in B_s-B_s(bar) mixing.Comment: 16 pages, 5 figures, more constraints analyzed, added a number of reference

Vacuum Properties of Mesons in a Linear Sigma Model with Vector Mesons and Global Chiral Invariance

We present a two-flavour linear sigma model with global chiral symmetry and vector and axial-vector mesons. We calculate pion-pion scattering lengths and the decay widths of scalar, vector, and axial-vector mesons. It is demonstrated that vector and axial-vector meson degrees of freedom play an important role in these low-energy processes and that a reasonable theoretical description requires globally chirally invariant terms other than the vector meson mass term. An important question for meson vacuum phenomenology is the quark content of the physical scalar f0(600) and a0(980) mesons. We investigate this question by assigning the quark-antiquark sigma and a0 states of our model with these physical mesons. We show via a detailed comparison with experimental data that this scenario can describe all vacuum properties studied here except for the decay width of the sigma, which turns out to be too small. We also study the alternative assignment f0(1370) and a0(1450) for the scalar mesons. In this case the decay width agrees with the experimental value, but the pion-pion scattering length a00a_{0}^{0} is too small. This indicates the necessity to extend our model by additional scalar degrees of freedom.Comment: 22 pages, 6 figure
